Tuesday, June 12th, Patrick’s & my 37th wedding anniversary. I tried a new idea this year, and felt there was no way he could not have received the love I sent his way…

So Beautiful Lisa <3 xxx Happy Anniversary to a truly beautiful couple. I know he got your love – How could he not have? x x x x x x
I agree!
Letting the balloons go up in the sky up to Patrick gave me tears to my eyes. My sister does the samething for my mom’s birthday. She gets one that says Happy Birthday and one that say We love and miss you. I know it was a sad day for you, but it seems that Patrick was with you and with you everyday. He is your guardian angel and he checks up on you. I miss Patrick too. <3.
God Bless,
Brenda Trimback
Debe de ser duro despues de 34 años juntos, pero debes de sentirte afortunada por haber tenido y sentido el verdadero amor, que mucha gente no llega a sentir nunca.

You are wonderful
I JUST SAW YOUR VIDEO OF YOU RELEASING THE BALLOONS FOR PATRICK ON
YOUR ANNIVERSARY. I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE TO MISS HIM LIKE CRAZY. THE
BALLOONS AND THE NOTES WERE SO SWEET AND INSPIRATIONAL. THE REALLY
NEAT PART WAS AFTER YOU RELEASED THEM AND THE DOG STARTED TOWARD
YOU THERE WAS A PRETTY RAINBOW IN THE BACKGROUND. I HOPE THAT YOU
ARE DOING WELL. GOD BLESS.
It was just amazing.
Lisa Lisa sad Lisa Lisa. Brilliant thing to do. You know he knows all you feel because he is within your heart.
Sending you love. x
Wonderful idea…Bet he will be happy reading those notes..Background was beautiful also
Thank you Lisa, I hope this helps someone else who is in the loss of a loved one.
I hope he received your message Lisa. It was beautiful thanks for sharing.
Sue.
What a beautiful tribute. I lost my husband 16 months ago and in July it will have been our 33rd anniversay. I have been dreading it but for my birthday I got tickets to go visit my family from my children, so I could be with family. These special days are always hard, but the best we can do is take baby steps. I read your book Worth Fighting For and you truly are an inspiration. Thank you for helping me get through a very rough time.
Oh Lisa, that was wonderful to watch. Beautiful sunset too!
The love and memories will always be with you.
I am sure Patrick got the message and will send you a message back in his own special way.
Take Care
Ann
You just brightened my day, thank you! I bet you brightened Patrick’s day too. Happy anniversary Lisa.
L Ingrid Mennella
Lovely Lisa, It brought tears to my eyes, It’s simply lovely! I am sure Patrick got your message! God bless!
That’s a very simple action, and very symbolic and at the same time. I love this concept. It’s beautiful on the sunset, and I’m sure Patrick has received your message and your love. Kisses.
Do had 37 balloons with 37 from you? Surely Patrick wherever it is it has seen.
Hi Lisa,
Amazing and emotional idea with ballons in the air. There was a wonderful sights, you holding ballons, notes , lack, sunset, rainbow and your dog near of all. I loved this video and all it means for you and for us. You’re so strong and so amazing woman, not everybody shall be doing this and after shared with us, your fans and Patrick’s fans.
For this reason i wish you a Happy Anniversary Lisa!!. There was something in the video like magic, probably he was with you in that moment, in every moment. I can imagine he proud of you and your anniversary’s gift and he smiled seeing all this.
Thanks Lisa for sharing this moment so personal with us. You’re incredible woman, I love you my friend.
Take care and my best wishes for you as always.
PS: very lucky on 25 – 26 th June, i don’t forget it, I’ll wear purple colour for Patrick and for you.
A big kiss and the best for you. XXXL
Maite Sánchez
Thank you. And just to mention it, I got the idea of the balloons from someone who wrote in this blog! Can’t remember who it was at the moment, I would have to go back and search for their comment.
Lisa what a special way to express your undying love! Happy Anniversary!!
I feel that love is not held in the physical being but in the heart and soul and that goes on forever. Patrick took that with him and he knows the love you have for him will always be their.
I bet he was dancing with joy!
Take care————-Love & prayers to you.
Ginny
I hope he was dancing with joy. I sure felt like it.
He absolutely received the love you sent his way. He also was beside you as you wrote those notes to him too! I am a firm believer that those who die continue to be with us, not just in our hearts, but also, I believe, that they are right by our side always. Just as there are times that my husband and I can “feel” that our son is with us, I also believe that Patrick is ALWAYS right beside you….. You know that he is the one who rings those wind chimes for you. We have learned, as have you Lisa, that all we have is right now, this very moment. So, just as you have, we take each day, each minute as it comes to us, and we treasure not only that moment, but the precious people in our lives. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this beautiful video! Gary and Karen
Hi Lisa,
What a great way of sending your love! I’m sure he got it and loved it! Thank you for uploading this video. It’s good to see you smiling…. Seeing you smile put a smile on my face!
I’m now reading your book ‘Worth Fighting For’. I’ve spent a few days in the hospital this week and bought your book as a gift to myself (sometimes you need to buy yourself gifts, right?) Now I haven’t finished it yet but I’m glad I have tissues!!! Your book makes me cry and laugh! I laughed when I read the part where you described a sample of a conversation during one of your dates!!
Thank you for making me smile!
Love,
Ineke
Whoo. I hope your hospital stay is nothing serious. Whatever it else, I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you!! 🙂
Dear Lisa! You are very beautiful realy! Patrick is very happy…Stay with God and very kisses in your heart! Veru sweet….
Lisa,
The moment when you come back to the camera with a little cry of joy and your famous dimble on your face is beautiful. This way to celebrate your anniversary with Patrick is, at the same time, very sweet , delicate and… little crazy.
Thank you for sharing this special moment with us.
Last Friday, I met up with my mother in Paris and we’ve learnt good news about my father (he’s been in the hospital for 2 years)
So, we were very happy and decided to go to the restaurant (with a champagne glass). There was a lot of noise but at one moment, I could hear and recognize a voice, a melody, a song.
It was “She’s like the wind” at the radio…
Waouh!!!!!
clem
ps : I ordered a second champagne glass for my American’s friends
oops!
for my americans Friends..
sorry…
clem
ohoh no no, it’s not dimble but dimple !
sorry…..
Whised I’d been there. I would have joined you in that glass of champagne.
Lisa,
Someone posted this adorable link/video on twitter. And, since you have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, I just HAD to share it with you! Hope it makes you smile!!! XXX
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/15/dog-adopts-panther-cub-video_n_1601061.html
Absolutely adorable!! Ridgebacks are naturally protective and gentle towards young. Sometime I’ll dig out and post a photo that was sent to me of a Ridgeback sleeping with, and keeping warm, a little fawn.
Aww…that’s so sweet!! I can’t wait to see the photo! 🙂
I absolutely LOVED the way that your new Ridgeback (cannot remember his name and am so VERY sorry) was with you and your Patrick by your pond at your ranch with the picture to dispel any possibilities of Patrick’s death. He had his cowboy hat on and you were both sitting on rocks by the pond. I remember noticing that you had to stretch out your entire left leg to “make room” for your precious Ridgeback and he laid his head right down on your leg / lap!!!! He wanted you to know without a doubt that you were NOT alone by any means!! We had a precious 12-year-old Golden Retriever, purebred, named Molly Magee. Molly was just like your Ridgeback…. very protective yet, at the same time, very, very gentle!! The one time that I saw one of our cousins lay their newborn baby down and their Golden laid right up against him to protect him and keep him warm helped me make up my mind right then that the very dog that Gary, Charlie and Andy wanted was the exact same dog that I had made up my mind that I also wanted. I NEVER, none of ever did, regret that decision. Molly slept each night with her time divided up between both of our boys, Charlie and Andy. When one of them was home from school due to illness, she laid right by the couch and never left their side until they were up and around again! Molly was 12 years old and she was not well. She had to “rock” to even get up to greet each one of us when we came home, even though it hurt her tremendously!! All I can say is that I am SO overjoyed that you have had these wonderful animals with you, to keep you company, to protect you, to play with, and that you KNOW deep down that you love them to pieces and would not trade even one of them for anything! That is a sign of a well lived life, my friend!
My dogs, kitty, and horses are the best! XL
Our Ridgeback is 10 years old and is the best dig we have ever owned. She is loving and protective, funny and playful. She waits for me at the gate to the hayfield when im haying and is always happy to see me.
I also had a mare for 26 years. She was my best friend from preteen…thru high school..thru wedding….my child and moves. Has to out her down due to arthritis. Miss her dreadfully bad and I will send up a few notes for her as well.
Pets are the best listeners and healers.
A perfect way to celebrate a spiritual wedding anniversary. The balloons and notes attached to represent the love, commitment; acknowledge of your life you shared together, making it so appropriate for a very special day. Absolutely beautiful Lisa, and a happy anniversary for the 12th.
Hi Lisa,
First off, thought that was a great article in the NY times, kudos to you. I can see why you got all choked up. You go girl; sensitive, strong, determined and relentless are some of the qualities I would use to describe you. Do you agree? Will be callin in as I cannot physically be there with you.
You are obviously also a sentimentalist. Thanks for sharing the personal video. Love the balloons, my favorite color (blue), the notes were a sweet way to try and reconnect. I’m sure Patrick caught it:-) btw, just curious, any symbolism in choosing the # and color of the balloons? if you want to share that is. Anyway best of luck in DC , will be supporting you, Patrick and millions in your fight for research and funding in this neglected area of such a horrible deadly disease. Keep going , as always rainbows to you. Love n light xoxo, Nadine
I just picked the color cause I thought it’d be nice. And the number of balloons – I just bought two bags, and was lucky enough to have them blown up the same day! But. The number of balloons is a good idea, and I’ll have to remember it! It might be tough having 60 balloons though on what would have been Patrick’s 60th Birthday!
Sounds like a challenge, but would be cool to watch. Pick a color with meaning and set it asail. Would be cool, I’ll keep an eye out for one in the skies of NY 😉 Call me if you need help:-) can’t believe he would be 60, I’m sad, I miss him so much
Dear Lisa,
I have just finished your book Worth Fighting For, I did enjoy it so much, however there were times I had to pause as I was unable to see. I really don’t see how you could write some parts, as I know it must have hurt so much in remembering. I have also read your & Patrick’s book, The Time of MY Life, I really enjoyed it also.
I am aware of how it feels in remembering loved ones and dates , having lost several of my family.
I loved Patrick’s Movies, Dirty Dancing, is my favorite. How could you not love them all?
This is my first writing to you, I do hope you continue to keep writing more books, I felt like I was there with you, splendid job.
I hope you continue to do well, I am sure Patrick is looking down on you and hasn’t left because of the love you shared. Thinking of you.
Janice
.
Lovely…sweet and lovely. Thank you for sharing this. I love how happy and “wiggly-excited” your little dog is, too.
Lisa, hope all is going well in N.Y positive thoughts being sent your way for a positive outcome.
Also I had a thought about dear Patricks 60th after the beautiful balloon messages for your anniversary… 60 of your favorite flowers released into the ocean? I released a single white rose into the lake of a park on one of the early anniversaries of my fathers passing and found it peaceful, calming and the perfect way to let him know how much I miss him.
Much love always,
Joanna xx
Lisa, Hetre we go again. The “twins” thing, you replied to in “Facing Fear” …. I, also, tried the balloon thing for , I believe, our anniversary . But minme still didn’t turn out so well. But I know what I did wrong. You had many notes on many balloons. Me, I had four balloons, actually 6 but 2 took off before I got out of the parking lot at the store. But, anyway, I had a card 3 or 4 page letter in an envelope taped shut and it couldn’t get off the ground for any distance let alone in the sky. lol
But, unlike you and Patrick, we only had a matter of hours, before he was gone. He was sick 2 days cold/flu systems and would go to the hospital. Finally, New Year’s Day 2009, I threatened him and he went to the ER. He had pneumonia, and his kidneys were shutting down. By 2:00, the next morning he was gone. A lot of things left unsaid, but we never forgot to tell each other “I Love You and that’s the most important thing. I guess, though, everything in that first year was a disaster. And your mind is everywhere except where it should be, so I had to double check everything.
But thanks for sharing the video, this year will be different. God Bless And Be A Blessing.
That’s tough he went so fast.
And yes, “I love you” is about the most important thing you can say in a situation like that, But..I tell ya, even that isn’t enough to express the depth of feeling, as you well know. I could, and did, tell my husband hundreds, thousands of times I loved him, and it never seemed like enough. But it was the best three words I could come up with.
Something hit me as I read “even that isn’t enough to express the depth of feeling” I wish I could have added, ” I LOVE YOU AND YOU ARE FORGIVEN” for all I knew, didn’t know and all the things I knew of and didn’t mention. That we seemed to be our best even at our worst, and I never doubted his love for me, didn’t understand but I knew his love for me was meant to be. And I guess it was until death do us part and then some.
Sometimes i wonder if any of this makes sense, but maybe it’s not suppose too. Because it is at the depths of my heart , it just is!!!! A place we keep for ourselves and only a few can reach, and all our meanings to protect ourselves is. Bless you and be a blessing. Youe replies have meant so much….Thank you.
Hi Lisa,
Thank you very much for sharing your anniversary, had almost tears in my eyes. Unfortunately, we are back from Santorini and Naxos:
Santorini is beautiful and we were very impressed by the beauty of the villiages built in the rocks but our opinion is that 14 days on this island is too long because it is such a small island and after a few days it could be a bit boring. For us Naxos is more beautiful because of the fact that it is the biggest island of the Cyclades there are more to discover and it has more nature than Santorini, more beautiful villiages with picturesque alleys and beautiful carribean-like beaches. The interplay of the colours (bougainvillea and other flowers in front of white houses with brown or blue doors and window frames in white alleys with grey stones are so lovely). Crossing by ferry from Santorini to Naxos was also a great experience. It is worth to visit it both. We will visit Naxos again for sure.
I will send you something. As I said I thought of you ;-).
Love, Melanie
Glad you had a lovely time!
Yesterday I felt it was time again to watch Dirty Dancing for the nth time on DVD, it made me feel both, happy, because it is the best movies ever, and also sad. I liked Patrick much and I like you much, too. Guess I am a bit melancholy currently. Now I am going to order your movie One Last Dance because I am so curious about it. Guess I will love it! Hope you will receive the envelope I sent to your agency on Monday. I know it takes a bit before you will receive it.

Hi Lisa
Hope you are all ok , as noticed you havent been on facebook or twitter for a while and I know it’s so easy to drop off with depression at such an emotional time as this, as anniversaries can be so joyful one minute and the next time they can be such lows as you feel so alone with memories of love and life as it used to be, hope you are ok and not in a low recline as this is hard to get out of, my friends pulled me back from mine as I remember how lost and alone I felt its hard and you can get back on the even road again it just takes time to get there though.
Hope you are ok Lisa God bless lots of love Julie xxox
Hi Lisa, just wanted to wish you all the best for a Happy 4th . Enjoy the day, spend it with friends n family celebrate and have a carefree day. You deserve it, sending much love and rainbows your way. Xoxo Nadine
Lisa, where are you???? I miss so much your stories posted in the blog… Kisses. Begoña.
Patrick is truly missed. He was an inspiration but we also pray for you, Mrs. Swayze!
Good morning LISA,
Your video is really splendid and full with hope, this cause is very touching.
While hoping not to importune you. That made two years that we try to create a French association to collect funds for research against the cancer of the pancreas. Would we have if possible to transfer you our profits, on the other hand allow that we use the name of your husband in our association?
While hoping to have your news very quickly,
We are ready, me as well as the two other people creating this association to be discussed of our future association with you, if you wish it.
in a friendly way
Aurélie, Grace & Karine
Hi Aurélie! I am so touched that you would help to raise funds for pancreatic research. There are many places you can put these funds (mine are Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and Patrick’s fund at Stanford Cancer Center), and I’m sure there are worthy organizations in France also. But in promoting your cause, I cannot give you permission to use Patrick’s name with your association for a number of reasons. I hope you understand. And thank you for the very good work that you do! Lisa
Hi Lisa, I just watched Dirty Dancing again on TV. It brings back memories for me of my Husband for it was released the year we got Married in 1987. My Hubby Jim was a great Guy, I miss him so much. He Passed March 15, 2009. Your Lovely Tribute to Patrick was so touching. I think I may try that next April 4 for our 36th Anniversary. I live in Florida I’ll do it by our sunset spot at a little dog park on the Gulf At Crystal Beach. Blessings to you and your beautiful Dogs and Family. Hugs, Kim
Hi Lisa, They say time heals all wounds and it does.I know because I lost my wife the same month and year as you lost your Patrick. I only got to talk to him one time at the Big Bear Airport when you guys flew in with the twin. And you would park it over at Calloways so the public wouldn’t bug you. He said you two had a place over towards Lake Arrowhead but no airstrip. Unknowing to you two, You were being watched from all the girls in the office through their field binoculars. He also told me you two took your lessions over at bracket field if I remember right. I felt so bad when he crashed the twin into the housing tract with the dogs and I think he has some beer on board and I thought Man I hope you can pull this off OK with the Feds, Well I guess he did because I never heard anymore about it. I hope your still flying as I’m still doing it. Even though we don’t have our co-pilots in the next seat I know they are there with us everytime we go up.If you ever fly up to Big Bear again call me and I’ll buy you lunch at the Barnstormer on the field. Or if you need to park the twin overnight you can park it in my hanger. I have plenty of room. Big Hugs to a sweet lady. Myron Koza [email protected] cell 909-633-9161
Dear Lisa
What a lovely anniversary celebration. I wanted to briefly share a dream I just had about Patrick. I was working at this college Library alone. It had been very busy and I was feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. Anyway, this young man walks in with a confidence and swagger I’ve never seen before. It was your husband, Patrick. I was trying not to show my surprise at seeing him and asked him if he needed help. He was looking for Shakespearean plays. (Either Hamlet or Macbeth) We sat down at front of the computer and while I tried typing in the information, I was stumbling as he was absolutely beautiful to look at. Strong, Healthy, absolutely glowing with vitality and life. I wanted to just touch him to see if that kind of energy would rub off on me! He know this and playfully wiped his finger into my ear and then looked at it as he had gotten it dirty. He chuckled and damn if he wasn’t being a bit of a cheeky scamp! Anyway, I quickly touched his arm and felt this electric shock and then I woke up from the dream. I don’t know if you read this yourself but wanted to share this beautiful dream I had because it just let me know that life continues on after death in a most beautiful way.
Much love and blessing to you.
He was so perfect
Hi Lisa, I’m back from the beach…you should by now have received two packages via Mrs. Wolf. Another is on it’s way, but will be delivered through a mutual acquaintance (not Mrs Wolf), you will never guess who! Keep your eyes peeled.
Again, I hope you will enjoy, and be amused.
🙂
Again, please do not publish this comment. Thanks!
Anybody out there? No new blog, no tweets, no postings on facebook….. Is everything fine? Tani , excited to hear something new 🙂
Lisa,
I just recently found out my dear friend and theatre artist Jesus Perez has been diagnosed with Stage VI Sarcoma Cancer. He has been undergoing massive chemotherapy and radiation treatments, yet nothing has worked thus far. Yet through it all he has remained immensely strong and positive, as he always has been. It reminded me of Patrick and how through everything he still stayed hopeful, cheerful and courageous. Please pray for him and keep him in your thoughts. If it’s at all possible I was hoping you could donate to send him to a special clinic for treatment. Even if it’s $10 every little bit helps. I know it might be wrong of me to ask you this and I know your real cause is for pancreatic cancer, but I was hoping you could find it in your heart to help save another life in Patrick’s memory and of all others affected by cancer. Take care lovely lady and God bless you and your Patrick.
Love,
Nikki

I thought i’d say, that this video was absolutely beautiful. Hope you dont mind, I would love to share your idea and release some balloons and messages on my mother in laws birthday as well. She fought for a year with brain cancer and we miss her dearly. Cancer is such a nasty disease. Lets hope there will be progress in the fight against cancer.
Best wishes.
Dear Lisa,
When my mother-in-law passed away, all 12 of her great grandchildren each let go of a pink balloon in honor of her!….. It was quite a beautiful moment and one that meant so very much to the children as well as the adults!! It is an absolutely precious way to let those who have passed know that we DO remember them in a very special way!!
Lovely
